What Caring means
Mark is physically disabled, his sister, Katie, is ten. Katie helps her mother June a good deal. June spends most of her waking moments looking after Mark's needs.
Both she and Katie have virtually no time away from Mark.
Katie is very unselfish about sharing and spending time with Mark, but she has had little chance to follow interests outside their home.
Crossroads carer support worker Pauline visits after school, one afternoon a week, to look after Mark while June and Katie go to the swimming pool together.
Crossroads gives June peace of mind, quality time with her daughter and a break from caring tasks with Mark.
